A man I have known for over 30 years and has always been involved with his neighborhood and local community (school volunteer and leader) has decided to enter the race for County Commissioner for our district 2! I told him he was crazy and with the same breath thanked him for making this sacrifice. I hope you will join me in supporting him in this race. Our current slate of commissioners (with exception to Phil Miller and Ricky Dobbs) have done harm to the integrity of this county’s Board. Kelton, will do a great job of increasing the competency and integrity of this Board. Let me know how I can help my friend. — Preston Barnes

I am a practicing Oncologist, and I have been a resident of District 2 in Douglas County for over 30 years. I have known and collaborated with Mr. Hill for nearly 28 years, and I know his character and integrity to be beyond reproach. Mr. Hill has honorably served 37 years in law enforcement at multiple levels, and he has provided unparalleled community services in Douglas County over 30 years as a little league football coach, baseball coach, basketball coach, and many other community services…..and he has served as a mentor to countless young men and young women. He is a dedicated family man, evident by his 34-year marriage to Chevon, and a loving and caring father to their three wonderful children, Jazmind, Kelton II, and Jori. I cannot think of anyone in this County who is as qualified as Mr. Hill, and has the right character, integrity, leadership qualities, and temperament to take on the roles and duties as the Commissioner of District 2. This community will be greatly served by having Mr. Hill represent all constituents in District 2, and I give Mr. Hill my highest recommendation and endorsement. James Benton, M.D — James Benton

I’ve known the Hills for over 20yrs and have been involved throughout! This family is solid, non-selfish, hard working and led by Kelton I! Kelton is a hands on leader with high integrity! He’s passionate about being an asset and creating a legacy for all. He also has a strong desire to help our youth! I remember him encouraging me, a single mother of two at the time, to allow my daughter to get involved in community sports/events. He took the time to explain the benefits and when I declined because of financial reasons, he immediately told me to take the first step and things will work out and it did! He didn’t look down on me, nor did he judge me. He encouraged me at my lowest. Kelton is the voice many heard/hear whether in the stands of schools , grocery stores and parks in our community. He may be retired from law enforcement, but not retired from serving others! His passion of serving others continues! There’s no doubt in my mind that Kelton I is the best candidate for our district! He’ll (HILL) make the difference! — Bonita Burns

The memories and lessons learned from Kelton Hill during my childhood has helped me succeed in my sports broadcasting career. Mr. Hill and his family became an extension of mine. I grew up living several doors down from the Hill’s residence and spent a lot of time in their driveway playing basketball. More times they are aware of I will admit. I always looked at his son as one of the best athletes around and admired the impact his dad had on his life. Mr. Kelton wore many hats in the community. A leader, mentor, coach and a great person to be around. Most importantly he’s an easy person to talk and laugh with. As for my circle of friends it was an honor to play for “Coach K” because we knew there wasn’t a better individual to lead our team(s) than him. I always knew Kelton as “Coach K” and as a kid I actually never knew he had a successful career in law enforcement until I got older. It’s because he was always around us. Kelton’s impact and reach goes beyond Douglas County. I’ve seen it and heard about it over the last two decades. It would be an honor for Douglas County District 2 to have him as commissioner. — Jared Oliver
